Reading your invoice
What each line on your storage invoice means, and why the total is the total.
Your invoice is designed to be readable at a glance — every line adds up to the amount actually collected, with nothing hidden.
What's on it
A typical invoice has one line per charge for that billing period:
- Licence fee — the recurring charge for your unit, based on its size. For example, a Small unit is £29.00 every month.
- Waiver (if you have one) — the goods-cover charge, shown as its own line. For example, a Standard waiver is £4.00 — see Set up a coverage waiver for what that means.
- Add-ons (if any) — extra items like a padlock, a packing kit, or extra access hours.
- Late fees (only if a previous invoice went unpaid) — shown separately from the licence fee, so it's always clear what's ongoing charge and what's a one-off consequence of a missed payment.
Why the total is VAT-inclusive
The price you see is the price you pay — UK consumer prices are shown VAT-inclusive, with every mandatory fee included up front. Using the worked example above: a £29.00 licence fee plus a £4.00 Standard waiver comes to £33.00, and that's the figure that gets collected. There's no VAT added on top of what you see.
If you're a VAT-registered business customer, your invoice can instead show the net amount and VAT separately (for example, £123.33 net + £24.67 VAT = £148.00 gross) — ask your operator if you'd like this view.
Payment status
Each invoice shows its current status in plain language: open (awaiting payment), paid (settled), or overdue (past due). If you're paying by Direct Debit, an invoice can briefly show as awaiting a collection that's already been submitted — see Why a payment says "Collection submitted".
