Change your payment method

How to update your card or switch between card and Direct Debit in your customer portal.

You can update how you pay your licence fee at any time from your customer portal — you don't need to contact your storage operator to do it.

Where to change it

Sign in to your customer portal and open Payment method on your subscription. From there you can:

  • Update your card details — replace an expiring or declined card with a new one.
  • Switch to Direct Debit — set up a Bacs Direct Debit mandate instead of paying by card.
  • Switch to card — move off Direct Debit if you'd rather pay by card.

What happens when you switch

Changing your payment method doesn't affect your current agreement, unit, or licence fee — it only changes how the next collection is taken.

  • Switching to Direct Debit starts a new mandate. Because Bacs requires advance notice, your first collection under the new mandate is scheduled a few working days out, not immediately — see Understanding your first Direct Debit collection.
  • Switching to card takes effect from your next billing date. Your card is authenticated once (you may be asked to confirm with your bank), then future collections happen automatically.
  • If a payment is already in progress when you switch, it completes on the original method — we never cancel a collection that's already been asked for.

Card details and security

We never see or store your full card number — card payments are handled directly by our payment provider, and we only keep a reference to the saved card, not the card itself. The same applies to your bank details for Direct Debit: they're held by our Direct Debit provider, not by us.

Who to contact

If a card update fails repeatedly or a Direct Debit mandate won't set up, contact support and include the error message you saw — that's usually enough for us to see what happened.
